3D Movies: Strike While The Iron Is HOT!
Looks like everyone and their mother is on this 3D craze in Hollywood. Yes it is possible that movies that are in 3D can bring in more money for your studio. Point being Avatar, that movie is a cash machine. We all know ticket prices are more expensive so people can enjoy the 3D environments that are being presented. So it is a no brainer to start making movies in 3D right? Maybe. Maybe Not. Let’s face it, we were spoiled with the 3D footage and special effects in Avatar. I do not think if we start converting movies that have already been shot into 3D that it is a good idea. Movies need to be thought out from the beginning and maybe the first conversation will be “Are we shooting this in 3D or 2D?” But to convert a movie I am a little worried here. Let me add that of course I am a sucker for something in 3D and am going to be seeing what happens to these movies in 3D. My concern is 1. Is it really necessary? and 2. What is the 3D going to add to the movie, because it was not shot to be shown in 3D
Movies that are being converted as we speak:
Clash of the Titans
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2)
Movies that might be getting the 3D treatment:
Gremlins
Ghostbusters 3
If we look none of these movies are original ideas in 3D. Two of these movies are remakes (Gremlins and Clash of the Titans) and the others are movies apart of an established series. Hollywood you are doing things in 3D to make money. Yes I am sure I will enjoy the majority of the films because I am easily entertained. What I am really trying to present is that Avatar went out on a limb and just went for it. It was an original idea presented in a 3D format. Hollywood if you want to start making more movies in 3D try using original content to test out the format and not anything established. Then you will see if you really are using and doing 3D properly

Avatar has officially become the number 1 movie of all time domestically. Yesterday Avatar passed Titanic's domestic total of $600.8 Million with a whopping 601.1 Million in only 47 days of release. To date Avatar holds the 3 major box-office records. It has the number 1 foreign total with $1,446,989,293 Billion and counting. It has the number 1 world wide total of all time with $2,048,130,844 Billion and counting. Avatar is still making money at the box-office and doesn't have anymore records to break. The only thing it has is to see how far it can set itself apart from the pack when it is all said and done. James Cameron has the top 2 movies of all time, and we bow down to you for that.
There is something big happening on all 3 music networks on October 10th, 2010. MTV, VH1, CMT for the first time ever will come together to celebrate the decade in music. The only thing we know so far is that this will be highlighting the top artists of the decade as selected by the viewers of MTV, VH1 and CMT.
RJMetrics has compiled new data showing the trend growth on one of our personal favorite social media platforms: Twitter.
You can read the entire Metric System analysis here, but in short, there is no denial Twitter has had a huge growth in the last two years, however the growth and updates have dropped recently. This is due to a few factors: 1. Twitter does a good job deleting spam accounts and 2. In my opinion, I think most people don't actually understand what it is used for. They sign up because they heard about it on the news or think it will help lead to over night success. They make a few updates, refuse to learn the lingo and drop it because no one cared about their tweet. A lot of people are treating it like Facebook, which of course the platforms have similarities but are clearly very different. I think that twitter is here to stay, however, only the companies and services that actually have something of value to offer their customers and/or followers will survive on twitter. It will be the difference between reading The Economist and The National Enquirer. I recommend reading Vivek Wadhaw's article for clarity on why twitter is such a powerful resource and tool.
